Mark Kozelek & The Roots “Mistress” (Live, 2012)
There are three important versions of “Mistress”, two on the first self-titled Red House Painters album and this one.
this blows my mind

this blows my mind
Shores “escarole” (from “Leavening”, 2012)
Their best track from their best album so far and now we can just admit they are a major slowcore band as this song just joins the best of bands like Bedhead, Seam, Codeine, Low or C-Clamp. But mostly now, when you listen to “Leavening” you just think about Shores. Best of all is that I can let myself drown slowly, laying on the wood floor while listen to them, i am shivering, i feel lost, am I crying, desperate or just asking for some peaceful time to let my mind settle.
this is just brilliant. so utterly brilliant.
bluetile lounge “chaps and spurs”
(or is it really: still “chaps & spurs”)? this song appeared on the myspace page of an obscure australian alt-country band which daniel erickson joined after leaving mukaizake. among the other still song, this one totally stands apart and if it’s a still song, it’ really a pure copycat of the early days of his previous band, bluetile lounge. in fact, in a certain way it sounds to bluetile lounge like sun kil moon sounds to the red house painters, more relaxed, more warm but as moving and as deep. it is a wonderful one and i just wish that dan would have wrote and recorded a few more songs like that. i would definitely exchange a few live records of mark kozelek for just an ep of songs like this one.
wow, this is so good.
